The electronic government purchases in a Brazilian City Hall

Resumo

The present study deals about the auction public sector format. From the traditional presence modality, the public sector is migrating to a more sophisticated alternative, the electronic auction. In general words, the electronic auction contributes significantly to the improvement of public purchases process, but limitations also need to be observed. This paper first conceptualize auction, the electronic face of the same process and based in literature revision make available a some advantages and disadvantages related topics. After the theoretical construction, the case study research is employed in a city hall to identify if the related theory is congruent to the reality, and some practical insights are forged. After the case analysis and discussions, the final considerations conclude this research with some identified elements.
