This study on child development risk indicators (IRDI) as an instrument used to prevent psychic risks from the school perspective. It aims to describe the benefits of the application of child development risk indicators (IRDI) provided for in Law 13,438, with a view to preventing risks to the psychic development of children. Its justification is tied to the expressive number of Brazilians who are considered people with disabilities, and that with the application of IRDI, as prevention to psychic risks there may be long-term changes in this statistic. Furthermore, this study is anchored in the authors Kupfer and Bernardino for the concept of child risk indicators (2018), Jerusalinsky and Bernardino in the term psychic malleability (2005) and Winnicott with regard to sufficiently good motherhood. The methodology corresponds to a descriptive qualitative literature review research with the search for journals in the scientific platform Google Scholar scholar with the descriptor "IRDI and Psychoanalysis". The results indicate that, through the application of the IRDI protocol and observation of the 31 risk indicators with a view to the 4 axes, it is possible to establish a roadmap for early interventions regarding prevention. Furthermore, its applicability in the educational area allows children and their families to have the proper referrals for more efficient interventions reducing the risks of child development with psychic impairments.
