Abstract

The Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP) is a document that presents the institution's plans and objectives, which must be periodically reviewed and reformulated, based on current educational legislation. However, not all legislation is properly referenced or specifically addressed in this document. Thus, this work aimed to analyze four PPPs of municipal elementary schools that serve the early years of the city of Sorocaba-SP, aiming to understand the presence of Popular Culture in these documents, considering that this theme is included in laws and documents related to Education. To this end, a documentary research was carried out, whose data were interpreted from the methodology of content analysis and cross-referencing with bibliographic references related to the theme Popular Culture and educational legislation. In this research, we understand Popular Culture as resistance to massified, globalized and dominating culture, as something that values the social and political struggles that cross the knowledge, traditions and artistic cultural manifestations born or perpetuated in Brazil. After the analyses, we were able to realize that Popular Culture is not included or is little included in the documents, which led us to reflect on how to incorporate such a broad and varied theme in pedagogical practices.
