Abstract

Introduction: The clinical nurse is the professional who, from the beginning of his journey, has the function of being a team leader. Through this, the research aims to: Know the role of the nurse as a team leader; Identify the main challenges in the work of nurses' team management and Know strategies used by nurses in team management. Methodology: Integrative literature review based on the Lilacs, Google acadêmico, Scielo, Pubmed and Biblioteca Virtual da Saúde and a dissertation, published within the last five years. Development: After reading the material, the research was divided into two categories, a) The role of the nurse as a leader of the care team and the development of the management process in his team: the clinical nurse has the function of being the leader of the team, demonstrating proactivity, empathy, ethics, being an influencer, articulator, provider and problem-solver. An efficient nursing is measured by the ability to improve the quality of work, ensuring safety in the execution of its activities.b) Leadership challenges and nurses' strategies in team leadership: the greatest challenges encountered were the leader's relationship of trust and knowledge about his team and the nurse's managerial skills.Final considerations: there are many difficulties in team management, but there are strategies that aim to improve the quality of patient care in the team relationship, such as improving bonding, communication, continuing education, and always being assured of the nursing code of ethics.
