Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

To the Collaborators (guidelines for the presentation of the originals)

The collaborations for the Mouseion – Electronic Journal of the Museum and La Salle Historical Archive must follow the following specifications:

The Journal accepts collaborations in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French for all the sections. The articles and essays need (1) to be unusual; (2) have a title with up to ten words; (3) begin by the abstract in Portuguese, followed with at least five keywords, (4) translation in English of the title, the abstract and the keywords.

The abstracts will have a maximum five hundred characters.

The originals must be typed in compatible programs with Windows operating system. They must be accompanied by a cover letter including the title of the work, the name(s) of the author(s), academic formation and/or professional, the institutions to which they belong, by the full name, complete address(es) including e-mail. The author must send, in a separate archive, the authorization for the publication of the contribution in the Journal.

  • Essays and articles – between 10 to 25 pages.
  • Interviews – up to 5 pages.
  • Documents – up to 10 pages.
  • Research notes – up to 5 pages.
  • Images – up to 15 pages.
  • Books, nets, data bank, museums and/or virtual files – up to 3 pages.
  • Abstracts of dissertations and thesis – up to 4 pages.

The explanatory notes should come at the bottom of the page and be only used when strictly necessary. The titles of the cited works will be in italics in any situation. The author’s highlights are registered in quotation marks. Citations, transcriptions or headings in a foreign language must be in italics.

Citations in the text body (up to 3 lines) appear in italics and between quotation marks; when bigger, they appear in italics, without quotation marks, with left indent and with simple interlinear space. The organization of the texts obeys the norms of the ABNT.

The illustrations must be included or indicated in the original document and must obligatorily be included as a separated file. The format of the illustrations can be JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), or TIFF (.tif), with a minimum resolution of 300 points per inch (dpi).

The width of the illustrations must be, obligatorily, of a half column (8 cm) or of an entire column (15 cm). The length must not surpass the size of the page.

For book reviews, after the title of the book, the name of the Author (s) must be entered in full and only the surname capitalized. The scientific affiliation of the author (s) shall be entered in a note at the end of the text.

The publication and the commentaries regarding the documents, interviews, images, research notes and abstracts of dissertations and thesis shall follow the specific norms for the articles and essays. In case the paper has financial support of some institution, this one must be mentioned.
