Abstract

The exploration of the scribes’ archives in Santiago of Chile, between the second half o the XVIth century and the beginning of the XVIIIth century,  allows finding letters of pardon writtent by the offended parts. These letters are made to free the accused from the prosecution of the judicial trial. They are considered not only part of judicial proceedings, but also as agreements between parties that fall within scribes’ practices. Their interpretation are thus cuestioned together with the rest of the documents, as referring to a certain cordiality between parties as an alternative practice of justice.
