The visit of Francisco Gutiérrez de Piñeres to the Nuevo Reino de Granada began in 1778. He began a restructuring in the payment of some taxes and these measures have led to a popular movement, in 1781, known as the Revolution of the Comuneros (Revolución de los Comuneros). The aim of this article is to show, through this movement, the punishment and the Royal forgiveness, specifically the general forgiveness, as part of the administration of Justice and Government in a context of change, as the second half of the 18th century was.Downloads
