This article presents a discussion in the PhD thesis, defended in 2012 in PPG History of UFRGS, on the writing of the history of the South of Rio Grande do Sul in the literary journals of Porto Alegre in the 19th century, reflecting on the memory of literate practices archiving, about the public writing, but also of the memory of the emergency of the historical culture, particularly, the ban of the events surrounding the civil war and some of its characters, since the collection produced by periodicals allowed to accompany the effort undertaken to develop narratives about the Revolution and the overcoming of the obstacles to undertake them.Downloads
