This study intends to use the concepts of Cultural History in order to reflect over the object of the study, highlighting factors that boosted the development of the city, the installation of a port and the consequent appearance of companies connected to the port sector. Itajaí is revealed in the formation of groups of individuals whose cultural events are linked to the social relationships developed in this society, like the fishing communities that mark their presence through their daily activities and the strong presence in religious festivals and popular events. Therefore, the city must be thought as a space of exchange and living that has an historical past to be considered, but at the same time to launch new looks over the object of this study.Downloads
