Abstract

This article’s goal is to trace a ‘journey’ through songs that refer to the city of Porto Alegre and affirm their historical aspect. These songs are not well known, and despite their diverse styles, speak of city locations loaded with symbolic meanings. Thus the use of these songs is presented as an education heritage tool, because they can aid in an active process of knowledge, appropriation and valuation of the cultural heritage.
