This text has as its objective to weave theoretical reflections on the research we produced about the artisan tradition of the city Tracunhaém - Brazil, localized in Zona da Mata, in the state of Pernambuco - Brazil. In this way its possible to approximate an empirical analysis on the local artisanship to a theorical referential capable of supporting the perception of the molding of the clay, of the urban identity of Tracunhaém, and its Masters/artisans. The latter have prominency in this text: from their centrality as producers of symbolic goods, they are obligatory points of reference for thinking the urban identity of Tracunhaém as a city inserted into an artisan memory serving for the establishment of a tradition.Downloads
