Abstract

This article provides an overview of the spoken language’s role in the configuration of a “people’s memory”. The creation of religious texts is crucial for the establishment of theories about the collective memory. Orality is presented as a tradition inherited from past generations. It teamed with writing to ensure the preservation of experiences. These "places of memory" complement each other in myth, in the practicalsense of the people, time and action in which rituals play a significant role in the preservation of collective memory.
