This essay is the result of a fieldwork carried out in Genoa between the Latin American immigrants living in the city in 2002-2003. The analysis focuses on the arrival and origin societies to study migrants like a total subject, not only as emigrants or as immigrants. In the text I specify the reasons that have pushed them to leave the origin country, the insertion in the Genoa’s work environment and the available future perspective. A great importance takes the analysis of the insertion in the domestic service in Genoa, and the analysis of the labor market segmentation according to the genre and to the nationality of origin.Downloads
