Abstract

The Araújo Vianna Auditorium was reopened in 1964 at Parque Farroupilha in Porto Alegre. However, it brings with it 33 years of history regarding its first phase, when it opened in 1927 in Praça da Matriz, in the center of the Capital Gaúcha. The purpose of this study is to get to know some of the cultural aspects of the first phase of the Auditorium, between the years 1927 and 1960, and to map out its banks that are today scattered throughout the city and represent a fraction of its memory. For that, old reports and information extracted from official websites were used as a bibliographic methodological resource. The search for banks took place in pre-established places according to the official website of the Porto Alegre City Hall, where the banks could be located. It was found that there is no memory on the part of the users, of these banks as belonging to the patrimony, being treated as common square banks.
