Abstract

This study aims to investigate whether the ethnicity of Italian immigrants remains present in the development and culture of the “Ferrovia do Vinho” and in what way it can be perceived. As a research problem, it was investigated which actions contributed to maintain the ethnicity of the Italian immigrants, through the use of the “Ferrovia do Vinho”, nowadays. To meet the proposed objective and answer the research problem, we chose the bibliographical research method in published materials. Ethnicity is formed by different characteristics such as: traits, language, and culture of a certain group, which differ from others. Thus, the Italian immigrants who arrived in Bento Gonçalves found a culture different from the one they brought with them. Currently, such culture is present in the “Ferrovia do Vinho”, which fosters the economy through tourism.
