Abstract

The article focuses on the presence of cultural memory and ancestry in the novel A chave de casa, by Tatiana Salem Levy, being an investigation that addresses the conceptual parameters of cultural memory and ancestry, and consider the studies Maurice Halbwachs (2006), Aleida Assmann (2011; 2011a), Jan Assmann (1995; 2008), Eduardo David de Oliveira (2005), among others. The choice of the novel is directly related to the researcher’s interest in the studies that interweave memory and literature. The novel presented is sustained as representative of contemporary Brazilian literature, in view of the use of memory as a guiding thread in the search for a better understanding of the past, having as characteristic a search for the origins that refers to the ancestry and cultural memory, which acts as responsible for the return to that past time, as well as for its resignification in the present.
