The increasing contamination of the environment is something evident with the industrial advancement, thus bringing about the pollution of rivers and aquifers potentially toxic metals such as Cd2+ and Pb2+. A study for the removal of these metals in solution alternative is biosorption. Biosorption process consists of an adsorption regarding the passive binding of metal ions by live or dead biomass. This study aims to assess the potential for bioremediation of the Pequi bark (Caryocar brasiliense Camb) in the removal of potentially toxic metals Cd2+ and Pb2+in aqueous bielementar solution. Determinations Load Point Zero, and acidic and basic groups were performed according to the Boehm method. The results showed that the surface of the biomass introduced in nature point of zero charge (PZC) in the range of 3.9 and 3.4 adjusted in the range of modification of the surface of the biomass with citric acid caused an increase of groups (carboxylic and lactônicos), and the amount of basic groups also experienced an increase in the modified biomass. The results showed a good capacity and efficiency of biosorption of Pequi bark for the ions Cd2+ and Pb2+.Downloads
