New record of leucism in Vanellus chilensis (Molina, 1782), in southern Brazil

Leucism is a chromatic mutation that blocs the synthesis of melanin leading to loss of pigmentation in birds feathers. This study describes a new case of mutation in Vanellus chilensis. An adult individual that shows partial leucism on the back plumage and wings color. The record has been made in urban perimeter of São Leopoldo city, Rio Grande do Sul.
