The water resource is a limited system discussed in the contemporary world because of the quality and availability of water. The process of accelerated urbanization, lack of basic sanitation, industrialization, open sewage and agricultural activities has caused many negative impacts on water resources, such as changes in their qualitative characteristics. The streams located in the urban areas are the ones that suffer the most changes because they present a high vulnerability with the effluent discharges, carried out by the residents of the surroundings. The present study evaluated the water quality of three streams located in the urban area of Humaitá-AM, southern region of the State of Amazonas. Was made the monitored of quality water in a seasonal cycle at three different points in each stream. The parameters analyzed were pH, oxygen dissolved, demand biochemical oxygen, coliforms thermotolerant, temperature, nitrogen, total, phosphorus, solids total, turbidity and conductivity. It was observed that the samples analyzed in the dry and rainy season presented parameters outside the permissible values when compared with Conama Resolution nº. 430 of 13 May, 2011 and nº. 357 of 17 March, 2005. In this way verified the deterioration of quality water in stream locateds in the area urban of the municipality of Humaitá.
