Abstract

This article aims to analyze the interactions and actions of individuals in the culture of waste management of a cooperative of recyclers (Cootre - Esteio / RS). We used a qualitative approach in the case study method (YIN, 2001) in Cootre. The results indicate that the interactions of work promoting a culture of waste management in the effective practices of associated work can be understood as practices of self-management and solidarity economy. (SINGER, 2000; GAIGER, 2004). It was also observed that the self-management establishes independent of the direct action of the leader, who has a more strategic role.
