The article explores the journey of searching for one of the hundreds of victims of the Chilean military dictatorship, who disappeared in 1974. After a long wait, in 1990, his body was found accidentally in a clandestine grave in northern Chile, the town of Pisagua. Consequently, it explores the ways that had the long wait for the victims ‘ families. As a consequence, this study looks at the experiences of the victims’ families during their long wait. It also examines the network of civil-military bureaucracy that prevented to know exactly what people, against their will, were arrested, tortured, killed and missing, making visible the violence and the impunity with which the State of Chile excecuted them during the military regime.Downloads
