Abstract

Despite being denounced in the first international agreements on monuments, the relationship between heritage and community has become more important in the last few years. This is a bond that has encouraged the development of heritage education initiatives task; despite having been described above, it has become part of a very current agenda. In order to have a look at the prospects that took the heritage education in Chile, this paper installs the discussion of changes in equity notion as meant in part, incorporating the community as an important actor in the patrimonialization process. In the light of international agreements, especially the second part examines the international debate on heritage education, since the interest in creating awareness on the part of States. In a third part, it reviewed the way the community has increased its participation in heritage processes in Chile, in order to raise some challenges. Challenges become especially significant when one considers that, despite the motivation and interest have been raised on the issue, it is a relatively new field.
