This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Reception with Risk Assessment and Classification in a large public hospital in southern Brazil, located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, using the Emergency sector as the object of study. It shows how this implantation can contribute to the improvement of the attendance/reception flow of its users. For this, the technique of document analysis was used, based on the following institutional documents: a) social reports; b) material used in public presentations; and c) information system. Supported by these documents, it was possible to identify and describe the reality of the implementation of Reception with Risk Assessment and Classification in the Emergency sector, as well as to identify any improvements and bottlenecks in the process of welcoming patients. It was concluded that the implementation of this methodology brought about significant improvements in the flow of assistance/reception, providing greater agility in the assistance to users who need immediate action, a decrease in the waiting time for assistance in the Emergency, in addition to “freeing up” the sector.References
