Knowledge management plays an important role for organizations working in the health segment, as the demand for new knowledge is intense, especially in patient care. Despite the acknowledgment that knowledge management is fundamental for hospitals, the attention given to this area is still incipient, including in the academic field. Thus, this research aimed to describe the knowledge management of hospitals, from the perspectives of managers and clinical care staff. The investigation applied semi-structured interviews to three managers and nine people of the clinical assistance staff, in three hospitals. Data were treated qualitatively by content analysis. Despite the identification of some appropriate practices, the results indicated the need for more systematic knowledge management.
