Gamification is the use of the characteristics of games in activities that are not focused on entertainment. Motivation and engagement at work are part of a gamification tool, aspects that can be explored in the work environment. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze how gamification in the Information Technology (IT) area of a metalworking industry promotes motivation and engagement in the work environment. For this, a qualitative and exploratory methodology was adopted, with the application of six semi-structured interviews, in addition to the collection of documents and the realization of a direct observation report. Then, the NVivo 11® software was used for data triangulation and content analysis. The results show that the activities were carried out individually, which encouraged competitiveness among colleagues in the sector, and that gamification obtained a satisfactory result in the motivation and engagement of employees in the work environment. It is concluded, therefore, that the management of the IT area must be attentive to the improvement of rules, rewards, and feedbacks and that the development and management of the area can seek new possibilities of activities and use of the elements of gamification.
