Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the importance of evaluation of anthropometric parameters (BMI, WHR, WC and WHR) in elderly as qualitative targets for the development of Project Sport RJ actions of SEEL-RJ. Were raised studies in the SciELO database and Google Scholar in order to justify the importance of analysis of these rates for the prevention of non-communicable diseases.  It is concluded that the evaluation of anthropometric indicators presented in this study are of utmost importance to check the impact on health and quality of life, as well as prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in public elderly participants of the Project Sports RJ. In view of the importance of the verification of the benefits of regular practice of Physical Exercises guided and leisure created in Project social sports,we pointed the importance of developing more studies aimed at presenting the impact on health of the elderly enrolled in such Projects in Brazil.
