Burnout Syndrome in the State Public Education Network of a Municipality of RS

The purpose of this study is to understand the causes of teacher malnutrition in a public school of basic education in a municipality in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. The Methodology is a descriptive and qualitative exploratory study, whose data were collected between August and September 2015, Through a questionnaire carried out in schools, the data were grouped into three categories, which represent the three dimensions of Burnout Syndrome referred to in the literature: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low professional achievement. The insertion into the labor market means being part of a privileged class that can pass through various capitalist social forms that impose a rhythm of competitiveness, even if this overload in the worker’s daily life causes him stress, anxiety, and many other feelings. Among the most important situations, in everyday school life, are the relationships between teachers and the direction of schools, conflicts between students and teachers, parents and peer competitions for schedules, better classes, and many other factors. The competitions are part of the performance and commitments of the daily life of the teacher, making them susceptible to develop Burnout Syndrome. The study reveals a relevant manifestation of Burnout Syndrome among the teachers interviewed and, mainly, how these symptoms manifest themselves according to the individual characteristics of each teacher. These results are discussed in the working context. At the end of this study, this research reveals the causes of the sickness of teachers in the public education network of a municipality of Rio Grado dos Sul. The results point to: daily stress in the working environment among the different actors of school everyday life (Lack of material resources in these places, low wages, few available leisure hours, overwork, displacement to different school environments, and a high level of anxiety expanded weekly, to the various roles that The teacher develops during the moment of being a teacher in the contemporary world.
