Abstract

The article presents a set of reflections made in the scenario of the debate to reduce the criminal age responsibility in Uruguay, trying a comparative view with the Brazilian case. It is proposed an analysis of the role of the media and the new role of victims of crime in the construction of a problem that, by reducing the complexities of the adolescent social question to a mere criminal matter, promotes punitivism as the only desirable and possible solution.
