This work is based on a reflection about the problem of water management and its resonances on the quilombola community of Castainho, in Garanhuns/PE. The main objective was to describe the conditions and ways of acquiring drinking water, as well as their relationship with health promotion, social, environmental and behavioral changes in the incorporation of environmental sustainability and coping with inadequate water distribution. It is an action research, with a qualitative approach. We seek through Culture Circles to understand the incorporation of sustainable attitudes in the relationship between man and nature, as well as possible ways of accessing water resources. In addition to the Culture Circles, document analysis was also carried out. The work provided a critical reflection of the participating subjects. In it, we consider the existing relationships between current practices and the conditions of users about the use of public service. However, for these residents, there is no access to treated and piped water in their homes. Through the Culture Circles, it was possible to discuss the repercussions of this problem on health and its social repercussions through the appropriation of new elements, access to information, strategies and intervention instruments, thus generating new possibilities and challenges with the subjects.
