Health care for pregnant women in the context of Primary Care

Introduction: Ensuring access and reception for all women, during the various phases of the pregnancy-puerperal cycle, developing activities to promote and prevent health, cure and rehabilitation, in addition to caring for the newborn, are activities required in the Attention Primary to Health. Evaluating these actions is essential to improve the quality of services provided.
Objective: In this work, the objective was to verify what care is offered to the health of pregnant women in Primary Care, according to the Protocol of Primary Health Care for Women.
Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 15 Family Health Units, in an urban area, in a municipality in Brazil. A semi-structured script was Family Health Units used, in the form of an interview with the managers of 15 Family Health Units.
Results: The results show standardization in the flowchart of pregnant women and medical records used in all units. In 93.33% of the units, there is a mapping of households with pregnant women and home visits and in 86.67% there is the monitoring of pregnant women in the area covered by the family health teams. Dental curative treatment occurs in 93.34% of the Family Health Units and in 73.34% there are oral health education practices during pregnancy.
Conclusion: It is concluded that there is uniformity of medical records and flowchart in the Primary Health Care of pregnant women, however, the active search and home visits, as well as educational practices and dental care, still constitute a challenge.
