Mental health in times of social isolation by Covid-19

Introduction: Social isolation was the measure adopted by most countries in the world to curb the spread of Covid-19. However, the impacts of such an action can carry several risks to the mental health of the general population.
Objectives: The objective was to search the literature for studies that depicted the psychological impacts caused by social isolation in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Material and Methods: We used some electronic databases for research, such as Lilacs, PubMed, Web of Science and Google Scholar combining the keywords: Mental health; Social isolation; Coronavirus. The selection of ten articles was made after a careful analysis, observing if they fit the studied theme and presented relevant data or concepts for the research.
Results: The studies portray pictures of psychological impacts on the population that go through the need for social isolation, highlighting factors, most affected groups and aid measures.
Conclusion: It is possible to conclude, therefore, the need to consider the assistance in caring for the mental health of the population as much as physical care, to provide a concise follow-up that does not result in posttraumatic disorder.
