Objective: To investigate the health education actions carried out by the Family Health Strategies of Primary Care in Monte Azul, Minas Gerais, from the perspective of service users and professional nurses working in the teams.
Material and Methods: This is a descriptive and exploratory study with a
qualitative approach, carried out with three nurses and ten users of the services. Data were collected between August and September 2019 from semi-structured interview scripts and analyzed using the Content Analysis Technique.
Results: Nurses act as protagonists in health education actions. They incorporate the use of light and hard technologies in actions and consider the contexts of users. Despite low adherence, active participants are able to empower themselves and perform self-care. Although there is a possibility of an almost universal understanding that health education is collective, individual spaces are privileged in relation to users with specific needs.
Conclusion: It is necessary to reflect the way in which the actions are processed to avoid the privilege of mechanical, repetitive techniques that distance the user from the team. As positive aspects there are the results of empowerment, gain in autonomy for self-care among users participating in the actions.
