Objective: The aim of the present study was to analyze the perception of body image, nutritional status and cardiovascular risk of patients seen at the aesthetic clinic in a higher education institution in Maringá, Paraná.
Material and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, carried out with 95 people of both sexes. The perception of body image was self-reported by the scale of nine silhouettes. Nutritional status was assessed by body mass index and cardiovascular risk by waist circumference. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test (p <0.05).
Results: Some patients included body image data in the form, others only BMI data. Forty-eight people (84.21%), of the 57 who responded to the Nine Silhouettes Scale, were dissatisfied with their bodies due to excess weight. There was no statistically significant association between body mass index, body image satisfaction and cardiovascular risk (p> 0.05).
Conclusion: cardiovascular risk does not seem to be associated with BMI and body image of patients at the aesthetic clinic. However, it is noteworthy that women with obesity and high cardiovascular risk seek more treatments to reduce body fat.
