Aesthetic techniques in the control of maternal anxiety in hospitalized premature babies

Objective: This study investigates the influence of aesthetic interventions with mothers of premature newborns hospitalized in relieving anxiety.
Material and methods: Qualitative, quasi-experimental, exploratory and descriptive research, carried out with six puerperal women attended in the maternity sector of the kangaroo mother of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia Hospital, located in the municipality of Sobral, Ceará. The intervention took place through workshops involving treatments such as massage therapy and skin cleaning.
Results: The therapeutic workshop proved to be an important tool for the relief of emotional overload and anxiety. There was an improvement in the psycho-emotional aspects of the mothers who carried out the study, these findings were evidenced in the feelings of positive connotation expressed during the evaluation of the action.
Conclusion: Thus, therapeutic workshops, when aimed at observing the subjective needs and valuing the psychosocial aspects of women in premature situations, corroborate for the promotion of care and emotional strengthening in hospital units.
