Objective: This study aims to report the application of food and nutrition education (EAN) for adults, based on active methodology, through gastronomic workshops.
Material and Methods: Experience of the action, developed by 3 Nutrition students from a private university in the Vale dos Sinos region, applied to the group of outsourced employees responsible for cleaning the university campus. There were 5 meetings: to get to know the participating public, their eating behaviors and expose the work plan; invite and make available registration form; apply culinary workshops on savory and sweet preparations, emphasizing the promotion of adequate and healthy eating; and graduation ceremony, with delivery of certificates.
Results and Conclusion: Knowing that the participants had urban eating behavior, with few meals a day, high intake of snacks, industrialized and ultra-processed foods, the EAN activity, based on the Arch of Maguerez, allowed the participants to understand their eating habits, building autonomy to make healthy choices, through knowledge and practice of new culinary preparations. It is concluded that the practical application of EAN, through gastronomic workshops, stimulates better nutritional choices.
