Abstract

The article is the result of researches carried out in the thesis, whose aim was to further discussions about the transformations undergone by the Brazilian higher education in recent years forties, starting with the Reform of Higher Education of 1968 and that changes with the advent of neoliberal policies in 1990s. It seeks to demonstrate that the governmental sphere opted for private enterprise to promote the democratization of higher education at the expense of public initiative.

Doutora em Educação pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Mestre em Educação pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Licenciada em Pedagogia pela Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), sendo Docente do Curso de Pedagogia da Universidade Estácio de Sá e no curso de  Licenciatura em Química do Instituto Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Campus Rio de Janeiro e Pesquisadora do Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Educação Superior- NEPES/ UFF.
