Hegemonic power relations under the Connell’s point of view and machismos of Captain Rodrigo and Colonel Amaral

This study aims to propose an analysis of the work a certain Captain Rodrigo by Erico Verissimo, focusing it on masculinities relations masculinities in whose construction and reproduction, according to Connell’s view, are involved power relations, violence or material inequality, including relations struggle for hegemony between the character Captain Rodrigo and Colonel Amaral, in a masculinized society, with the intention of reviewing the confrontation between this representative character the ranchers, the patriarchal power, absolute master of the people and the town, whose patriarchal power was stable and constituted and the fight Rodrigo captain to counteract the predominant force and be able to establish itself as the hegemonic power of the place.
