“My own life is my militance”: analysis of the violence suffered by LGBT activists in Belém, Pará

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the violence suffered by LGBT activists who live in Belém, State of Pará. For this purpose, it was realized semi-structured interviews with five people who identified themselves as LGBT activists who live in Belém. In the end, it was concluded that LGBT activism is permeated by a complex and multidimensional violence, which affects the individual at social, interpersonal and intra-individual levels.
