The construction of political activism: the militants of the LGBTT Social Movements

This article analyzed how the political activism of LGBTTT social movement militants is constructed, identifying the meaning attributed to their participation. Individual interviews were conducted with five activists and the analysis of qualitative content indicated three categories: articulation of the self with the society, political identity and sexual identity, with a constant inter-relation between them. It was concluded that identity, group identification and political awareness are key elements to political activism of the LGBTTT social movement militants.Downloads
