Although the literature on strategic alliances has gained space in the researchers schedule, there is no consensus on the relationship of the attributes of the transaction in the formation of strategic alliances. Considering the existence of a gap in this relationship, the study aims to analyze the influence of asset specificity in the formation of strategic alliances. This is a descriptive research, developed based on secondary data. Was tested a hypotheses set relating to specific assets and alliances. Data were collected on 1,353 inserts for medicines registered in the Electronic Register of ANVISA. The study results suggest evidence consistent with the hypotheses, demonstrating the influence (P < 0.05) of specific assets such as shape, category and prescription medications on alliances. Conclude that the specific pharmaceutical drug form, regulatory category and medical prescription favor the existence of strategic alliances with different intensities.
