Abstract

The paper's objective is to evaluate the necessity of the television as a means of communication to the awareness of population over environmental affairs. Bibliographical research was used in articles, news reports and academical papers to search theories supporting to this academic paper. Environmental degradation occurring in Brazil are constantly the subject of reports on newscasts and television, as a popular and accessible means of communication, made these newscasts important allies to awareness.
