The formulation of public policies involves a set of principles and norms that guide the actions of the State and allow the mediation between the public power and society. The design of public policies until their implementation influences the results of the policy, benefiting or disfavoring certain actors. In this sense, the analysis of public policies emerges as a research strand applied to the analysis of concrete activities of the public entity, its actions and its social reflexes. The study has a review of the literature on an analysis of public policies through theses produced in the last two years (2016-2017) published in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) to demonstrate how the theme is being developed in academia, and which key areas of policy are being covered by research.
