O presente texto tem como escopo abordar a análise crítica de Jessé de Souza a respeito de Raízes do Brasil, inserindo novos elementos de análise a partir da concepção de espaço histórico subjacente à obra. Privilegia-se o jogo entre passado e presente, história e sociologia, permanência e mudança, presente na obra de Sérgio Buarque, para explicitar o seu argumento principal, qual seja, o da cordialidade brasileira. A partir da fortuna crítica a respeito da obra, passa-se do conceito de cordialidade e ao de patrimonialismo, e a partir dele, discute-se o tema da modernidade do Estado brasileiro, em especial a partir das considerações de Jessé de Souza.Downloads
