Representations of the dynamics as the challenges of being a German immigrant in Brazil: Ina Von Binzer (1881-1883)

This article looks at Ina von Binzer’s letters, a German immigrant in Brazilian. The general objective is analyze Ina’s representations about her experience in Brazil. As specific objectives, the article sought to contextualize Europe and Brazil in the late XIX century; and understand the dynamics and challenges represented by Ina. The research is based on the studies of Fausto (1995); Hobsbawm (2016); Chartier (2002); Renk (2004); and Ramos (2011); and Bardin (2011) for the narrations. The results indicate in her letters, Ina represented challenges to the “Romans” who lived here and their adaptation to the Brazilian molds.Downloads
