Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

1. The journal accepts original and unpublished texts written in Portuguese, Spanish, English or French. All items will be submitted to evaluation by reviewers; it may not be submitted for simultaneous consideration in other journals. The selection will take into consideration the quality of the work. The analysis of papers received by the journal Educação, Ciência e Cultura is based on the peer review system. The incoming jobs are initially appreciated by the editors and in accordance with the standards for publication and considered potentially publishable, they are forwarded to the ad hoc consultants to be selected by the Editor. After analysis of the work, the authors are notified of the decision of the consultants and, if approved, they are informed about the likely date of publication. There is no charge for submission and publication of articles.

 

2. The Journal receives submissions in continued flow, exclusively by the OJS/SEER. The file of submission must

i. Be in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format and have, at most, 3 MB.

ii. The font must be Times New Roman, size 12, interlinear space 1,5.

iii. The page must be shaped in size A4, with margins of 3 cm.

 

3. The text must be addressed to one section:

Articles: papers originated from finished researches.

In Focus: reflections about emergent or polemic themes.

Experiences: results of researches developed by graduate and postgraduate students, as well as teachers of the basic education.

Reviews: related to recent publications, national or foreign.

4. Texts addressed to the ‘Articles’, ‘In Focus’ and ‘Experiences’ sections must present:

i. Minimum length of 08 (eight) and maximum of 20 (twenty) pages, including bibliographic references.

ii. Title up to 20 words in the language of the text and in English.

iii. Abstract up to 500 characters, in sole paragraph, in the language of the text and in English.

iv. From 3 to 5 keywords in the language of the text and in English.

v. Introduction, development and conclusion, though not explicitly.

vi. References.

Important: the file of submission must be anonym, in order to assure the blind evaluation by the pairs. Remove the names of the authors and the intelligent marks that allow identification. This information will be inserted afterwards.

5. Texts addressed to the ‘Reviews’ section must present:

i. Minimum length of 02 (two) and maximum of 06 (six) pages.

ii. Complete information of the reviewed work: author, title, edition, translator (if it is the case), local, publishing house, year of publication, number of pages and price.

iii. Introduction, development and conclusion, though not explicitly.

iv. References, only if other works have been cited along the summary.

6. The quotations must be made according to the author-date system.

i. Short direct quotations (up to 3 lines) must be presented with “double quotation marks” in the body of the text, followed of the indication of the font (AUTHOR, year, p. ).

ii. Long direct quotations (more than 3 lines) must be presented in font size 10, interlinear space 1,0 and space retreat of 4 cm at the left margin, followed of the indication of the font (AUTHOR, year, p. ).

7. The references must be presented at the end of the text, in alphabetical order of the author. Consult an article published recently by the journal in order to visualize details of presentation of the references.

Important: if the reference is available in the internet (ex.: article published electronically, ebook, etc.), the address of access (URL) must be informed.

8. Images (tables, graphics, charts, figures, photographs drawings, diagrams, formulas, patterns, etc.) must

i. Be presented with the maxim clearness, duly positioned in the file of submission.

ii. Be numbered progressively with Arabic numerals.

iii. To present title and font.

iv. To present explaining legend if it be the case.

 

9. The authors must inform complete name (without signatures), contact e-mail and institutional affiliation in the formulary of submission of the OJS/EER. Do not put this information in the file of submission, in order to facilitate the blind evaluation.

 

10. The submission implies, automatically, authorization for publishing and divulgation in the electronic format and printed or if applicable.

 

11. The authors, exclusively, respond for the conceits, information and arguments presented in the texts.

12. The journal reserves itself the right to publish or not the texts received, informing the authors in each case.
