In this study, we aim to understand the experiences of children on a family visit to the zoo, through conversations and interactions. Participants included seven families with children between the ages of 4 and 11. The visit was recorded from the child's perspective, using a GoPro camera during the journey. The audiovisual records were coded following a protocol that identifies the types of conversations and interactions and, subsequently, through an analysis performed through axial coding in which the following constructs emerged: (1) Interest, (2) Social interaction and exploration of the environment, (3) Meaning Construction and (4) Emotions. The results show that children were protagonists within their family group, demonstrating autonomy in space and interest in animals, with dialogues that indicate the construction of meaning and emotional responses – important aspects for learning experiences.
