We discuss in this essay experiences of international academic mobility of four young students from a community university in southern Brazil. The objectives sought here are the result of questions that take the form of the following questions: What motivations led them to study abroad and what did these experiences mean? It is a cut of a larger qualitative research, conducted through interviews, considering the pre-trip flirting and the dive during. For the analysis, we use the theoretical-methodological framework of the Grounded-Theory. Experiences have been marked by sensitive issues involving desire, dreams, determination, fears, and loneliness. We show the relevance of interpersonal relationships in overcoming difficult moments experienced during the exchange.Downloads
