Abstract

This article is the result of broader research that investigated the existence of educational public policies directed to the thematic of ethnic-racial relations focused on Law 10.639 / 03 in the Education of Youths and Adults in the city of Limoeiro-PE. Our research is based on theorists such as Passos and Santos (2018), Rodrigues and Abramowicz (2011), Souza (2016), Oliveira (2010), Reis (2017), Ferro and Pinheiro (2015) and Gil (2008). We opted for the qualitative approach with the use of document analysis, interviews, and a questionnaire. Based on the documentary analysis, we discussed the legislation in the municipal documents, as well as the implementation of the theme within the scope of EJA, through the testimonies of the municipal secretary, the technician in education, teachers working in EJA, and the projects found on FESTEJA, Festival da Educação de Jovens e Adultos, (Festival of Youth and Adult Education). As a result, we found the existence of Law 10.639 / 03 in the education curriculum for young people and adults, as well as the effectiveness of the thematic ethnic-racial relations within the scope of EJA, materialized as a public education policy through the FESTEJA project (EJA’sFestival), which is already in its third year.
