With the potential to connect different areas of knowledge and promote comprehensive education, interdisciplinarity faces obstacles in its development. With this in mind, this study focuses on the importance of interdisciplinarity in high school courses integrated with professional education, analyzing how this approach can impact on the transformation of professional and technological education (EPT). To this end, challenges to its implementation in the context of EFA were examined, highlighting its importance and the need for teacher training. This exploratory and descriptive study used a qualitative approach, based on a conceptual literature review. The findings indicate that the adoption of interdisciplinarity requires detailed planning and adequate teacher training, enabling its implementation and contributing to the preparation of teachers and students in the face of transformations in the world of work and contemporary society.
