Through an interface between literature, psychology and education, this paper aims to examine issues related to resilience in the autobiographical work entitled "Wild", international bestseller recently published in Brazil. The life story of the author is analyzed in order to understand how she turned away from a self-destructive path to one of revelation and redemption. Sartre’s existentialist theory was the basis for understanding how the author took back control of her own life. That was due to the fact that this theory explains ideals concerning freedom of choice and individual power. Analyses were performed using excerpts taken from the book, in the form of reports. It was possible to evaluate the role of alienation, loneliness and the trail as catalysts of the recovery process of one self and resilience.
